How to automatically backup your Website


In the event your website gets hacked, restoring a snapshot of the last backup would come in handy. Therefore it would be a good idea to backup your website when you make changes to it

  • To backup, your website install UpdraftPlus Backups plugin to and back it up on your Google Drive
  • Log in to your Website Dashboard. Click on Plugins, Add New. Search for Updraft
  • Click Install Now, wait and then click Activate
  • Click Settings, UpdraftPlusBackups. Then click on SettingsTAB
  • Choose a schedule for Files& Database from the dropdown
  • Choose Google Drive for “Choose your remote storage”
  • Scroll down and click the checkbox for Email
  • Scroll down and click Save Changes
  • When prompted to “Remote storage authentication ....”, click the link and authenticate your Google Account and select ALLOW
  • Click Complete Setup
  • Then click Backup Now. Then click the button Backup Now again
  • Wait for the backup to complete
  • Check if the backup happens on the next schedule
