In this Information age exchange on the information needs to have anywhere, anytime, anyhow capabilities. The Internet is currently the answer to that need. Those who have a website and the basic skills to manage their Website will fare far better than those who can’t. Presence on the web is not just for large corporations, it is actually more beneficial for individuals and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). With the Internet one does not need brick and mortar infrastructure to establish and market their presence (which the large corporations already have), one just needs a website. The cost of building and maintaining a website is minuscule when compared to the cost of a brick and mortar infrastructure.
Take the example of Mumbai Sullins Organic enthusiasts group. Some of the sellers just have Terrace Gardens. But they are able to post their produce and sell it on the website. Their customers are from all over Mumbai.
The sellers don’t have to take orders on the phone. The customers can order organic produce anytime even at 2 in the morning. The orders are collated by the seller and deliveries are done area-wise to cut transportation costs. Without the website, the sellers would not have been able to reach the customers all over Mumbai and the customers would not have known about the sellers who don’t have a physical (brick and mortar) presence in their local area. This is a cost-effective win-win situation.
In my case, I am passionate about starting an Experience Based Holistic Learning Environment (EBHLE). To validate my concepts I organized Experience-Based Learning Workshops which I posted on Facebook assuming that everybody had a FB page. Turns out I was mistaken. So I had to send a separate email to others who were not on FB. This really became a challenge to manage. So with Rishi’s help, I managed to set up ebhle.org where I have all the information about EBHLE including workshops, registration, projects, strategic vision and so on. Now everything is in one place and it is so much easier to manage. All the people interested in EBHLE now have to go to one place only. After I attended the Learn Website Making (LWM) workshop conducted by Rishi I can now manage the content of the website on my own.
Rishi conducted the workshop quite well. There were old folks like me, in the over fifty-year range and there were young under 20 years old too who wanted to manage their parent’s business websites. I want to state clearly here that Rishi is a good friend of mine and so I do not want this endorsement to appear as a conflict of interest. This is an endorsement for Learn Website Making in general. Whose course you attend is entirely up to you. I attended Rishi’s course and I thank him for the good job that he has done. I can now manage my website fully and Rishi is always there to answer any questions I may have when I am looking to add some advanced features.

Attending the website making the seminar a few years ago was a big learning experience for me. Firstly, the one day class was superbly crafted. Rishi made it look simple and made us familiar with the technical terms of Word Press…. Appearance, posts, pages, site origin, live editor etc … all had a double meaning. Since we actually made our websites that day, it looked and felt so easy…. But it was not! Especially because I went back to work on the website after a long gap!! Panicked!!!
Now began the second phase, called up Rishi, who promptly set up a time to meet. This one on one training was so helpful that in 3/4 hours the website was ready for publishing. Needed a few more hours of hand-holding but have to say that the time was given unstintingly. Dear Rishi,
I was wanting to learn website development, so when your email found me, I jumped at the chance.
I found the class and the general ambiance very helpful and enjoyable.
Around halfway through the class, I thought to myself “What on earth am I doing here? I can understand barely anything about what this guy is saying!”
